I am a new business ran part time last year and have moved to full time this year. As everyone knows it is hard getting business when first starting. I was curious if it cosher to contact the larger landscaping companies in the area and ask them if they ever out source work or could refer me when they are called for jobs that are too small for them. I just dont wont to be the new guy on the block that looks like some sort of bottom feeder or mooch and give my business a bad name. So basically is this a acceptable practice or even normal at that?

It doesn't hurt to ask. What do you have to lose?

There is nothing wrong with that. Guys who rank highly on Google or spend a lot on advertising generate tons of calls- much of it from people who are not the right fit. They are happy to be able to refer them to someone who is a good fit.
Be friendly, professional, send a Thanks if they do refer.
