I was wondering how many of you use tungsten blades or have tried them in the past and whether or not you think they are worth the extra cost, stay sharp longer, last longer, etc. I'm going to have to buy a couple of new sets of blades before next spring, and my dealer told me the other day the tungsten have come down in price about $10.00 and are now only about $12 higher than standard blades.

I have tried them on various mowers and upon various types of both C3 and C4 turfgrass.
    Initially they were okay.
My main difficulty was how the leading edge shattered on hidden objects - it made re establishing a real pain.
I don't bother with them anymore. I mandate a blade changeout every 10 hours of mowing time, and with the dedicated rotary blade grinder, it doesn't pay for me to have the carbide or tungsten blades at all.
