    I am filling out a questionairre so that I can receive a bid packet with the local school system. The question that I have is type of business. I am a sole-proprietor but what is the classification. The choices are dbe, sbe, fbe or mbe. Does anyone know what these four different choices are and thier meanings? Thank you for your help.

    I am no expert but I remember these terms from College classes. I would verify with your CPA.

    DBE= Disadvantaged Business Enterprise

    Business that is at least 51% owned by individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantged.

    SBE= Small Business Enterprise

    Business which is independently owned and operated, which is not dominant in its field. * This is what I would guess you are unless you fit into the MBE or FBE classifications.

    FBE= Female Business Enterprise

    Business at least 51% owned and operated by Females.

    MBE= Minority Business Enterprise

    Business that is at least 51% owned by person classifed as a minority.
