unleaded gas $1.25, diesel $1.33 ?

    Been thinking about getting a 2003 250 PS, but after seeing gas prices at $ 1.25 compared to diesel at $ 1.33, I'm having second thoughts about the f-250 PS, but I like the 5/100,000 mile warranty on the motor, and the miles you can get out of the PS. The F-150 with the 5.4 would be okay but that body style really needs help. The F-250 really looks good. In 2004 the F-150 is supposed to look like or close to the new Tonka coming out. Anyone out there wish they would have bought a PS instead of a F-150? Thanks Terp

    Just filled up for 1.23. Very, very nice.

    I would still go for the PS. 250 is much more suited for work than a 150.

    Go with the 250 or even the 350 :) Real work trucks.

    The cheapest unleaded we have around here is $1.39, diesel runs about 5 cents higher than that. I have been debating the V10 vs. PSD thing for 2 years and still haven't completely made up my mind to buy the diesel :(

    Kinda hard to figure. Last year this time I was paying between $.98 and $1.00 for diesel. This year its a $1.27 to $1.38.

    Usually this time of year; at least in Missouri, diesel goes down dramatically due to the increase production of heating oil and gas goes up. But so far gas has been a within a few cents of diesel.

    However I would strongly encourage you to buy the diesel. I don't know what kinda mileage the ford gets but my Cummins gets about 22 mpg. I don't know of a truck in production that runs on gas that can get that kind of milelage.

    Buying Diesel here for $1.14. Works for me, much better than the $1.47 just a few weeks ago.

    unleaded here-$1.37 - $1.49 for the 87
    Diesel here- $1.28 - $1.35

    22mpg with diesel wow
    i get a whopping 4-6mpg at $1.45 a gallon of gas here
    I may need that new truck sooner than i thought. The $100 on gas a week is beginning to get my wallet and the season has almost ended.
    Brickman, unloaded what is your mpg rating on that truck? Mine will be the same except 350 and long bed.

    How about $80 or $100 a day??


    Unloaded with my lead boot I get 14 to 16. I live at 6000 ft elevation, got hills and a lot of wind most of the time. Also 75 MPH speed limit creates a lot of wind drag. I would imagine if I didn't have such a lead foot and drove a sane 65 max and took my time getting there I could see above 18. The early model Power Strokes and Cummins seemed like they got better mileage than they do now, the major amounts of electronics they put on them any more seem to drag the mileage down.

    22 mpg is pretty good Steve, and I sure can't think of a gas (pickup) engine that can match. That mileage is not that uncommon for a Cummins. I'm a little lower than that though. I have oversized tires, and can only manage an average of around 19. I did hit 22 once, driving about 65mph through Kansas.
    I can't understand how diesel can be more expensive than gas, as it costs less to produce. It should be considerably cheaper, as it used to be.
