Scroll down to the Soil Health and Sustainability video.
This is an hour long class taught by Ray Archuleta, Conservation Agronomist.
It give a very good explanation of why it's so important to pay attention to soil microbiology. Warning - he's talking about agriculture, but this also applies to turf

Is this one also about how people don't need NPK to produce the world's food supply,,, only microbes in the soil???
I'm not trying to start an argument,,, becuz it doesn't matter,,, I'm just curious if there is anything new that hasn't been hashed over already,,, for the past 30 years... :)

BTW, Ray Archuleta is an agronomist & teaches this class for the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service.

Thanks Barry, interesting and educative content. The problem now is those circumstances where tilling is a necessity. How does one balance between allowing soil microbiology to build and tilling as required, and furthermore creating a circumstance where the soil becomes self sustained? How many tillings does it take to ruin a soil? Is it even possible to find an optimum in between stage? This video blew me away by the way, very informative.

I'm only asking if there is anything new... don't want to sit through an hour of repetitive info, which is why I asked... sorry to have bothered...

I gather from Victorsaur, that it is about no-till... thanks...

You should watch the video Axe.

Some forms of life in the soil food web can feed on weed seeds.

    That sounds organic to me.
