My lawn is a real mess. The front was sodded a year ago (new construction), and it's really thin and has weed due to neglect and inexperience. The backyard is just dirt, and weed. Mostly dirt.

I am hoping to hire a lawn service to help me overseed next month. After overseeding, hopefully the grass will start growing and I can do the fertilizing and mowing.

Is over seeding only too small a job for lawn service company to consider? My lawn is about 5300 sq. feet (front + side + back). I can afford to pay hundreds but not thousands. Is it realistic?

I'm a first time homeowner and never have to take care of lawn before.

    Thanks!

Get several quotes. Sounds like the proper method would be to aerate everything, overseed the front and slit-seed the back.

Should cost less than $300 for tall fescue.....
