What types of volt meters is everyone using to check the voltage at the fixture?
    Thanks in advance.

I use a Fluke. This is one of the best meters on the market. When choosing a meter, make certain that it will check voltage to .01 or even .001.

    those are really expensive...
if you are doing nothing but lighting, i can see the expense...
we buy ones in the $50.00 down range ( sun pro, etc).
they work well, and when they die from abuse, we are not out $250.00....

ours get used for irrigation, etc, and get rather abused

The make of the meter is not as important as whether it can read .01. I have seen very expensive meters that are not good for this application simply because of this. I have been an electrician for a long time and have had my Fluke for over 10 years. I let my guys buy their own meters (after loosing a few) as long as it gets the job done.

have some friends...all three electircians really like the greenlee cmt 90. 2 are in the low voltage lighting business now for over 20 years each...the other is 80 years old and works still part time. I would think they know a thing or two but I guess as paul and others have said the most important aspect for low voltage lighting is at a minimum it reads to the tenths..100ths being the best.

I have about 4 differnent testers

    I recommend the most:
    Greenlee CMT-80

not many people ive run across know about this one

those that do, are ahead of the game.
