I had a fungus appear overnight in my plant bed. It looks like vomit (yuk!)
What can I do about this, or do I even need to do anything?

Are you sure it isn't vomit. I've put rabbit repelent on Hostas before and the rabbits still eat it and then puke it up right in the bed before they leave.

Metroman, I know exactly what your talking about! It actually called somehting like "dog throwup fungus" or something un-original like that.

I have a yellow fungus around one of our dogwoods that looks like insulation foam... but so far it hasn't made a move toward the house.

You have slime mold. Very common in bark mulched beds. Not harmful to anything, just unsightly to many people. I will go away usually in a week, but if in a high traffic area you wish to keep attractive, just scrape it up and put in trash or compost heap. "Like
nature's other organisms, slime molds should be looked at for their beauty and enjoyed as one enjoys a mass planting
of dianthus or snapdragons." (quote from above-referenced URL from GroundKprs)

... Didn't know dog barf was esthetic, didja?
