Depends what kind of money you are looking to spend.
If you are looking in the Craftsman class of mowers then you won't find much that's any better in that price range.
600-1200 isn't that much for what it sounds like you are looking for...................

    Please define "high powered"
On this site that means many things..............

    32" or 36" walk behind.
    Exmark,hustler,gravely,scag,etc.
    12-15 horsepower,$2000-2500 Belt drive,$3000-3500 hydro.

i think they are looking for a high wheel trimmer. if you get the craftsman (i used to work on them) you absolutely have the keep the shaft the cutter head is on clean and grass free. also keep the cooling passages cleaned out and the air fliter clean. i know the DR field mowers are pretty tough, not sure how much they sell for though.

You need to give more details about what you're looking for.
Are you really looking for a commercial walk behind, say 36" or larger, or a 21" home/trim type mower?

From the brands you've mentioned, sounds like you're wanting a 21" that has some real power to it.

    I suggest Honda.

If you cut more often, the grass/weeds won't be such an obstacle.

The DR brush mowers used to go for 1200-2000 depending on model, but that is a while back since I've looked................
