Is that the 48R deck? Or just the regular 48? Hard to tell from the picture but it looks like the famed "R".....

I'm not sure what that is.. what's the 'R' stand for and what is the difference between the two?
This is the original deck from the dealer/factory. Thanks

If it stands for Recycler or something similar then no. This one is dedicated for collecting grass.

The 'R' deck is for reverse rotation. The blades spin from the inside of the deck to the outside, from back to front is another way you could say it.

Great looking machine! I have one just a year newer, but otherwise almost exactly alike!

Leland Lawn has summed it up correctly. There is a difference in the deck housing as well between the 48 and the 48R. At first glance, yours kind of looked like the R but maybe not... Just FYI the "R" deck is supposed to help with the finished product(stripe) because the blades are spinning the same way the mower is going... Not sure what year they were introduced however... Either way that is a great deal for that mower... Wow.. BUMPERS!!!!!!
