I have a 2005 20hp/48/ghs I would like to know how they do mulching? I am in north fl and many yards have pines so pine needles are a problem. the 42 inch deck cost 1400.00 so any info on this would be great.thanks

Mulching pine needles is next to impossible imo.

If you are asking if you can clog a GHS deck and mulch with it the answer is (technically) yes you can, but it won't look good. I do with my GHS deck when I do leaves sometimes, but that is just to reduce them down to a smaller size to only come back and suck them up with the same deck later.

You can use a 52 SD with mulch kit and double blades to mulch. I guess you southern guys get lots of pine needles so I can't be an authority on mulching them or removing them. My 52 will mulch them to some extent if I have the deck down and then I can switch to the 42GHS to pick up much of the debris. Like I said, my northern pines aren't similar to yours but thats my experience.
