I have a big job brush cleanup to do tomorrow, about 7 loads in total in my truck... I work solo and was wondering what the best way to load this with a tractor might be? It will take me a very long time as some of the pieces are bigger if I have to do this all by myself. I almost forgot to mention that I only have the bucket, no grapple or this would be a no brainer. Thanks in advance!:usflag:
Yeah I know! She is my neighbor and just brought it up to me today when I got home from mowing. Tomorrow is the only day I have open so thats why its so short notice. I wish I had forks, do they rent just forks?
I would but its my little old neighbor, not trying to make a huge amount off her as she has done my family alot of favors over the years. Just trying to help her out without killing myself
Put the bucket down, flat on the ground. Use two chain's that have at least one hook on each chain. Hook one end of each chain into the hook on each end of the bucket. Stretch the chain's out on the ground in a X pattern, or maybe straight out, that might work better. Put the brush in the middle of the chain's. When you have decent load, throw the chain's over the top of the brush and hook the chain's back into themselves or to the bucket. Now you should be able to lift the load. The weight of the brush should make the chain's tight. When you have that load on your trailer, unhook the chain's that you threw over the top of the brush and use the tractor to pull the chain's out from underneath the load. See the illustration. I hope this make's sense.

Attached is a screenshot of a photo I uploaded to my Facebook that describes a way to load brush with a smooth bucket. Worked fantastic for me, especially considering the tractor is a subcompact (48" wide bucket) and I had to clear around 1/8-1/4 an acre. Worked so fantastic I must of been too excited to proof read the caption and correct grammar & autocorrect mistakes.
The brush pile photographed included lots of honeysuckle, various ground covers, and two dozen hemlock stumps.
