I have an older walk behind edger that won't start.
It ran last year, but I used it so little, that I didn't even prep it for winter (it sits in the back of the garage and kinda got forgotten about).

Now I need to use it for a new edge and can't get it to run.

It's a B&S 3.5hp. I put a new plug in, that didn't help any. I'm going it empty out the old gas and put fresh in, but I kinda don't see that solving the problem.
The air filter is fairly clean (like I said, used very little).

What kind of things should I be looking at and trying?

I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, so speak slowly if you know what I'm saying! ;-)

    Thanks.

  2. after replacing fuel I would try starting it with starting fluid

    also
are you getting spark? if you don't have a tester put your finger on the plug and pull starter rope - that will let you know :)

Bob, I did have a spark (fortunately, I didn't have to use my finger to find out LOL!).

I put new gas in and after many pulls, it started. I shut it off and it started right back up again.

    Thanks for the input!

Actually geniuses, I have a stick edger for MAINTAINING edges. The wb is for establishing NEW edges.

Now if you have anything that will actually add to the thread, I'm all ears.
