    Guys,
Those of you that are small operators, and have websites.

Did you develop your own, or did you have it "professionally" done?

    Story is this:
I have piddled around trying to develop my own utilizing some of these free sites. I am obviously web site development challenged, as I have nothing to show for it, and a real lack of time, but I still think I should have one.

Called somebody that knows what they are doing and price is like $1500 for initial development, and $100/mo. afterwards.

    Question for you all is:
Is that a decent price (I know that's a wide open question)?
Comparing before you had a web site, and after, was/is it a good thing, not much difference, or time will tell?

    Thanks

I think it's high but I'm old school. If you have a friend or family member that's good with that sort of thing you should consider their help.

As my friend Irritation says find a family member or friend that is website friendly. Or you could call the high school and talk to the IT teacher, maybe one of the students can handle the job.

My wife built mine years ago, and it is outdated. www.sprinklersetc.com
We will be redesigning it this year as I am going to change our company name. $1500 plus $100 a month is very high for what you need. If it is just to give info and photos and testimonials and such, that is very high and you don't need $100 month service after that. If you have an site that needs constant changes, and has a shopping cart with prices and inventory, then you may need monthly support. But I think those rates are high. Find someone local, tell them what you need and DON"T need.
