    hey guys, I am having to learn a new program for web design (dreamweaver) since I used to use golive which is alas no more. anyways I've updated it and for some reason the flash thing at the header keeps updating on every page (it's the same file, why wouldn't it cache?) anyways I'm hoping ML will have some insights, also there are some new pics if anyone is bored.

  2. Really good Brandon. How hard was Dreamweaver to learn? On a Mac right?

    Boooooooo, cheater. Real coders use text editors.

    Two possible reasons.

    1) Your browser is set to always do a full page refresh
    2) Your flash settings (in your browser plugin) are not allowing caching.

    BTW, word of advice -> get rid of the flash menu, or at least provide an alternate menu system via browser sniffing.

    I'm not going to look at the code, but don't most sites using Flash also use frames?

    Speak for yourself, old yak. There's more to this business than digging holes and sniffing cement fumes.

    BOOOOOOOO, frames are SOOOO not cool and SOOOOO outdated. Time for an update to the present -> Ajax is new "frames".

    You can embed flash anywhere in the HTML body, no need for frames.

    Sites I see using Flash don't necessarily have separate URLs for the various sections you click to visit, so I imagine the Flash thingie (technical term) is only loaded once.

    Ajax = scouring powder ~ Code = Dit-dah-dit-dit-dit ~ Flash = [IMG]

    Right click somewhere inside the flash animation and your will see your options.

    You can easily mask your path with URL rewriting and/or server side code.

    For example, note how all the links on this site point to the same "page" even though it really is not.
