Greendoctor, thanks for the input on the replacement tips. After your recommendation I talked with the guy at Crop Care (company that builds the sprayer I use) and he recommended the AIXR11003VP tips. I purchased them that day and just sprayed with them for the first time yesterday. HUGE difference with these tips. No drift at all. It wasn't a really windy day, but the spray goes straight to the turf and no drift. Even on calm days with the old XR11002 tips there would be drift floating to the ground. Again, thanks for your professional advice!
The drift that hangs in the air rather than staying with the pattern down to the ground is a large part of what causes drift damage. Never mind what you cannot see. While 2,4-D is notorious for drift damage, the new low rate herbicides are actually worse.
