Can anybody direct me to a wed site that tells the soil temp's for weed seed germination. I have looked all over the web and can not find what I'm looking for. 50 to 55 degrees pops to mind for crabs, but I would like to time my app's better then just a date. I missed the timing on poa annua by about 2 weeks.

soil temp's south side here in bama have been about 49 @ 4". just finished with my pre-m route and I feel I could get even better results with better timing.

Crabgrass will germiante when the soil temp is over 50 for a few consecutive days. Check the top 1/2 in of soil in the morning hours. Germination in bare areas can be up to a week sooner than turf.

You can also use the Forsythia as an indicatior. Apply your pre-emergent when the petals fall, not when it first blooms.
