I was using echo's until I used a Shindiawa. There is a major difference betwwen the two. I bought 2 Red Max this year. They are also better than my Echo but a little heavier and noisier than my Shindaiwa. The Red Max was much cheaper than my Shindaiwa.

We've gone to buying all stihl this year,we are no longer happy with echo and after looking around at honda trimmers, tanaka's,husky's etc....we've gone with stihl for all around equipment.Blowers, chainsaws, trimmers, hedge trimmers.
So far we are quite happy with the 8 pieces purchased this year.

Shindaiwa has the best trimmers, also blowers and power sheers.
Ive used echo, husky, kawi, deere, and red max. the only equip near as good is red max.

Try Stihl. I also like Echo. But I have an FS85 Stihl that is a great trimmer.

I have a shindaiwa t231 and its a great trimmer for just doing lawns, but if you want to do lot clearing and stuff like that get a t270.
