I am questioning the quality of the topsoil I am getting, it appears to have a lot of small particle mulch looking pieces in it. Was very noticeable after it rained after I had put it down.

Then again, it's not screened loam.

My F250 with Firestone airbags holds 2 cubic yards comfortably but I dont push it past that. I pay $16 cash for screened topsoil

if you ever have a job where you need more then 10 yards of top soil, i would try Manchester Materials. They got some nice topsoil, and at around 14.00 a yard if your ordering more then 20 yards. Shop around, 32.50 is really high.

They usually sell it at around 20 a yard i think if your not buying alot.

HOLY SMOKES! I can't believe these dirt prices! I can get shredded and screened top spoil for around $20/yard. I get good black topsoil delivered by the tri-axle for $150 per load. That should be 27-30 yards for $150.

If its black or brown then throw some fertilize and planty of seed to it, and it will grow fine. My parents hve the thickest stand of grass I mow. It is on sold red clay in the front yard. It was cut down 14 feet when construction took place. No topsoil has ever been added. It was seeded at triple the average rate, and strawed heavy. It get no till drilled when the fields do.

My point is, you can grow grass in the bed of the truck if you have a few soggy paper bags. I wouldn't worry about the little pieces.

Thanks for the information. I figured it was all "organic", it'd just eventually decay and fall back into the soil anyways. It just looks like crap right now, just after I layed the topsoil, we had heavy rains and it made all those little chips end up in clumps all over the yard.

so since were on this topic, how much does a yard of 3/4" gravel weigh because i put 1.5 yards in my truck. also i've had it filled with fill dirt too, but it was level with the sides, both times i've has my trailer with me too. but luckily the DOT wasn't watching! :D

    but just wondering...

oh btw ive had only 1 yard of top soil at a time.

    1 yard of topsoil = 1 ton
