Anyone know how much one dry cubic yard of topsoil weights?

Need to haul some soil away but don't want to overload the truck.

2 cu ft = about 40lbs. but thats with some moisture content ,i would say 500 to 540 lbs for 1 cubic yd

You need to get one of these handy pocket reference books by Thomas J. Glover. I got mine at a hard ware store.

My Caterpiller pocket guide is very similiar to Leadarrows. A cubic yard of top soil is going to weigh over a ton.

Yeah, the place I usually get mulch from says a cubic yard of topsoil is 2000-2800 pounds.
