I remember someone telling me that they would back flush a well every other year with potable water to clear the strainer and clean out the well. Anyone ever heard of that? Also that after they were done they could time the water flow as it seeps back down the well. I've been doing this a long time and this is a first. This started when a guy moved here from Ohio and I think is more talk then action if you know what I mean.

Unclogging the screen on a well point is certainly established procedure, on a schedule depending on the particular point, and the soil it's located in. On a deep well, with a submersible pump in it, you'd never bother worrying about the 'performance' of the well shaft until you noticed some problem.

A buddy of mine is a well driller , his advice was call a well company , here its licensed by the state , you could be paying for a new well if you do something wrong
