It's July 18th and we're still getting great rain. Keep on mowing fellas, it may not burn out this year just like last year.

Alive? I think just barely. Frankly, I am beyond depleted.

At the risk of upsetting the apple cart, I was expecting a break in the schedule. None has come, and none will come for a few weeks. I have not altered any mowing schedule, and I have many bush trimming jobs that are coming for late July and early August (as they do every season).

Wow, ... complain when things are good, complain when the weather turns hot and dry, ... are we ever satisfied?

A little crispy but my lawns are all looking green for the most part. I'll be cutting until it goes brown which may not happen. Cut higher and avoid leaving it brown while taking less off the top for easy cutting.

I also have 10 irrigated lawns so they look pretty good and will be weekly no matter what. Thank god for rich folks.

    Ten irrigated lawns? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
In five years I've spotted sprinkler heads in TWO lawns. Neither had seen use in over a decade.

In the rich burbs they're all over. All 10 of those properties range from half a million to a couple million each. :)

I have many that are sprinkled. It is too bad that most home owners have no clue how to use them. They have the money to install, and having a sprinkled lawn sounds good. But, most don't know how to use their investment.

A month or so ago, when we were dripping water from everywhere because of so much rain, one of my customers had his sprinklers set to activate every morning. "My lawn doesn't look very good." His problem is that he has a chemical lawn, and he was at the end of his app cycle. I mowed their a couple of times with water sitting everywhere, ... with lousy turf all around.

In another case, they wait until the lawn turns brown (other years), then fire up the sprinklers, expecting instant "green" overnight. They wait far too long and the turf has already gone dormant.

In most cases, these are the "garage door" residents. They only know one thing, "push the UP button to get the car out of the garage," and "the DOWN button after the car has been reversed out of the garage." In the evening, they reverse the sequence, repeat the next day, the next day, the next week, etc. In other words, they have no idea what is going on outside. But, they can boast about having a sprinkler system at their house. Yea!
