Although you've already ordered the Ferris I'll give you my take on the JD. I've just recently purchased a 2013 JD 925M with EFI & MOD and although I've only used it a hand full of times I can tell it is going to be a winner. The MOD is all I hoped it would be. The ability to go from mulch to open deck for me is great, no more hauling 2 mowers around. I would have gotten the 48" but it was not available with EFI. I paid around $9200.

The absolute BEST thing about the cyclonic briggs is that it has the same 3 year warranty as the Vangaurd and lets say your son or worker forgot to put oil in it and you go out and mow with it and it locks up. To re-power with the 30hp Cyclonic briggs it is only $1000!!!!!! to do that with and vanguard or kawi is anywhere from $1900 (kawi FS) to $2800 (36hp vanguard). I was really surpised that it made pretty decent power. 42 ft.lbs of torque is pretty good- I think the kawasaki FX730 makes 43-44 ft.lbs
