Newbie to the forums here... I have been in lawn care for 12 years. I am thinking of upgrading to a 6x12 open trailer. Do any of ya'll know if I will have any trouble pulling that with a Nissan Frontier Auto transmission 4x4. I will be hauling a JD 757 and a JD L102. Not sure about weight of mowers.

    Thanks

try your owners manual. then find the weight of the mowers and the trailer.

:nono: I tried a frontier out last month(4 banger) with my 6 x 13 and 737 and it was hurting big time. What amazed me was I tried out a frontier the same day with the 3.3 V6 and it would barely pull my trailor with 1 ztr and my small rider. It would only go 49 holding it to the floor! I also tried a toyota tacoma with the 4 banger and it would not pull it over 35 and started running hot. Lets face it, a small truck just aint made for serious towing. Funny thing is my old nissan, a 93 with the 3.0 V6 towed my equipment find and it was an AT.

If you like having an SUV, why not just trade up? What about a good Bronco or older Blazer? Just my 2 cents.

The Frontier is a Truck not a SUV

4U: I did some more research. My Frontier is a 2000 AT and the towing capacity is 5000 lbs ... My 2 mowers weigh a combined 1700lbs and the 6x14 trailer weighs 950 lbs for a total towing weight of 2650 lbs.

What years where the 2 frontiers you tried ... maybe the towing capacity is different than mine.

    Thanks

Your Frontier should have no problem. My uncle has towed a small horse trailer with a bull (about a ton) in it behind his Ford Ranger with the 4 cylinder. I myself have towed a Toro 48" ZTR behind a 1996 Mercury Sable on a 6x12 trailer, and the engine would pull it fast enough to scare me, so your engine should have no problem, and your suspension is probably much better suited to towing than my Sable.

I don't know about Frontier but I do know that any Ranger from 4 banger up can pull a 52-54 " Z on a 5x8 or 5x10 trailer with other 2 cycle equipments, let alone F 150. I think your Frontier should have no problem but this is new model I am not sure as they overadvertise everything nowdays.
2650# is not even 3k lbs so you should be able to do it, I hope.

Pulling the load is not always the problem. Being able to stop that load in a safe distance should be a concern also. I would at least put brakes on that trailer if your going to be using this setup regulary.
