I have the same problem every winter. No nursery business and no landscape or mowing work. Not only is it boring but little money coming in and no one wants to hire someone for three months knowing they will be leaving. What do you do during the winter?

Yeah I hunt too but would like to make some money also. Why can't the bills stop coming in during the winter.

Mulch, pruning, installations I didn't get to in the busy season. I only have 2 slow months (Jan & Feb). Leaves keep me busy till Christmas. After that I have to get pre emergent out, bushes trimmed, gutters cleaned, pressure washing (not fun in winter, but brings in $) Also have a crop of poinsettias for Christmas and then spring flowers and tomatoes and peppers (fruit) for sale in Feb. Even built some wood fences for people this winter. http://www.windflowermaintenance.com/

relax during winter and do things around the house you don't have time to do during the summer. only 2 months off here during winter really. mow march-oct and then leaves in nov and dec. jan and feb are the only months off. you just gotta make enough money during the other 10months to last through the slow 2 months of winter.

Plow snow. Here in the mountains we get a bunch of snow. The weather systems get caught in the mountains and it will snow enough to drop the plow for days. Its easy to go out and make $3-$4 k a night plowing. A few big snows too. I'd rather mow. Nov-dec are slow so sell firewood those months.

haha!!! I plow snow and try to pick up some part time farming work over the winter. I've been cutting firewood to sell for next winter to make some extra money. Winter sucks!

Oaknut, that's the best laugh I had all day. Sounds like most folks have the same situation, at least us smaller guys. I forgot to mention I deliver firewood too but not a whole lot.
