I know Ron had issues with his brothers unit, not sure how that ended up. But this one seems to be a pretty good deal. Discuss:

    Specs:
    asking price: 59,500
    870hrs (still in use)
    hydro thumb
    18 & 36 buckets
    62" hydro angle ditching bucket
    paint looks excellent
tracks look to be about 50%

Also, new terex dealer just moved in really close to us. Got to try out a tc50 in the parking lot. We are going to rent it on a volleyball court install, and a couple retention pond maintenance jobs to see what it can do. They have a tc75 coming in a few weeks as well.

I was really bummed with the visibility out of the new pt 110/100's. Might be a deal breaker and have to look at the Cat '7 series...

I sold my 2008 305ccr this year and jumped into a 2014 305ecr. The machine is real nice.. I remember ron having problems with the 305ccr i think it was.. The only problems i had with it were it wasnt stable enough and the stick would sometimes shake like crazy when pulling back. I think they called it stick chattering or something i dont remember what CAT called it .. The reason why i didnt go with the 305.5 was because it was an extra 5 grand for what some more big depth and little more break out It just didnt make sense. Anyway i would never spend almost 60,000 on a used machine with almost 1,000 hours when you can go finance or get a cash rebate on new.. What were you quoted on the machine?

The oil seals on the main crank outer bearing will leak after 1500 hrs and the tracks will be done by the same amount. Our 305 is spitting out the steel cross bars, we lost 6 already in the past 4 months.
I just plain hate the Cat minis, slow bucket speed, poor boom swing angles and bad cab layout.

I demoed one in 2012 before I bought my TB153FR. I liked the feel in the controls, the control package is pretty good I thought. Getting in and out of the cab was a bad. Bucket breakout was decent, but it was a little slow as Ron mentions, but my TK is also on the boom out function. I just get used to that.

Never priced a new one but i can only imagine it wouldn't be much more than that. I ran a 304 for a few minutes and the controls felt like I was playing an excavator video game. It was terrible.

ive never really spent much time of them but always tried them out at auctions. why are cat minis so hard to start? if its cold that thing will spin over forever before it fires up.

We got a really good relationship started with a full custom home builder that got burned by their previous excavating company. So a 5ton wouldn't do us any good any more. I'm looking into the 8 ton class and possibly a 140/160 unit.

This week we need to start cutting a 700' long drive and line it with 1's & 2's, clear out a bunch of stumps and dig a basement. Then he has a couple small detached garage tear downs so new ones can be built on top.

curious how many hours this has on it:
