Going with a 60" Exmark Lazer Z X model in the spring and kind of debating on which engine to get with it. Either the 29 Kawasaki or 34efi Kohler with red technology.

I'm of the opion that any-more when you buy new you should buy EFI...and I think so far in the game kohler holds the slot for the best EFI. Good luck with your choice.

EFI is still too new. The bugs aren't worked out yet. 5-6 years from now, I'd go with EFI, but for now, stick with the carb.

I tested a gravely with the 34hp fi kohler didn't seem to have the hp that the carbed kawi does, it bogged down very easy. I went with the 31hp Kawasaki.

Both are good mowers but I would go with the Kohler.

Let me start by saying that I have respect for Exmark... I think they are an awesome company and the ultracut deck is phenomenal. That being said, I am a Walker guy and I run the 26EFI Kohler... Tons of power, I can only imagine what the 34 feels like.... EFI technology is not new, it's been applied to automobiles since the 80's and Walker has been using them in their machines since the late 90's. There has been plenty of time to work out the kinks.... And with Kohler now using the Delphi software, the system is as close to perfect as could be.... I have ran a 23 carbed Walker and a 26 efi Walker side by side for numerous mowing seasons and I can tell you right now that there is a HUGE difference in power.... The only people saying that EFI is no good are old-timers who are afraid of change.

Having had dozens of kawis the only thing I didn't like about them is they are very sensitive to being run a little low on oil. Not a prob if you check it like you are supposed to. But unlike kohlers the top bearing isn't replaceable and they're not economically rebuild able so an "oops" is always a new engine.

Keep the voting and replies coming guys. I will say that I have been leaning toward the 34 a little more than the carb 29 even though I am a Kawasaki guy. Now if the Kawasaki had the Delphi system like the Kohler I would choose it.
