What you pay someone who is responsible for keeping a crew (2-5 guys) busy as well as operating a vibratory plow and trencher and doing the harder pipe work (brass work for backflow installs, wiring, job layout).

    Elite--up to 20$/hr

#2 guy (good enough for most companies to carry the load as #1) $13-15

    average, $10-12

Another company that is local here for me was advertising $16/hour to start for a crew supervisor who didn't need training. I don't think they filled the position. The market has sort of dropped out here w/the economy, but a few years ago, an install foreman could find $17/hour easy enough. I never liked installing that much. Repairs are my specialty and where the money is. Getting a company to pay what a tech is worth is a whole 'nother ball game though. Same outfit that wanted to pay $17/hour for an install foreman, wasn't paying $15 for repair techs.
