I'm an amateur at best when it comes to identifying grass types so I thought you guys could help. If you could, please tell me what type of grass the longer more unattractive grass is, and how to get rid of it if at all possible. For years I've pulled it, but it always seemed to return within a month or so. It is confined to a pretty select area near my driveway. The area has always been subject to damage due to snow plowing. Also, the area also gets a good deal of run-off from my driveway. Here are a couple pictures:
    Thanks, nate

I think it is Tall Fescue. The best way to eliminate it is to completely kill it with Round Up, then reseed.

Tall fescue. It's a bunch grass (clump) Glyphosate should do the trick.

There are good cultivars of Tall Fescue and bad. When the bad Tall Fescue gets into a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn it becomes a weed-because it grows faster than the KBG and it looks very unsightly.
