Just noticed it today. Can't seem to find anyting in the manual about it. This is on my 36" TT, my 48" TT doesn't have it...

Pull it and see what happens! :) I think that is the hydro dump valve release. It allows you to move the mower without starting the engine.

Ha ha, I don't want to pull it cause I don't know what it does...

I thought that the hydro release was a nut/fitting on top of each hydro pump?

Eh wth do I know, I just cut with the thing:)

Scag has that on all its hydro mowers.....I does release the pressure on the hydo system.....and as of what i know it helps on cold starting.

Hmm, this one is a pull-start, as opposed to an electric start like my 48" TT. I'd guess that's the reason.

So if I pull it to ease cold starting, will it automatically "retract" once the mower is running?

It releases hydro pump belt tension.

It does not automatically retract back one the engines running.

You think he read the manual? Heck, he has this shiny thing sticking out the side of his mower and doesn't even know what it does.

Perhaps your reading comprehension needs some work.

    Let me quote myself:

I DID look in the manual. I'm so sorry if I didn't rip the manual apart looking for 3 or 4 small sentences. Excuse me if I don't know what it does.
