what is this?

    there is a big huge patch in the front, and seems to be intertwined throughout the whole back yard. is it Crabgrass? or something else? it gets these real long runners.

    That is Bermuda grass. We have tons of it in Missouri, Arkansas, TN, and KY. Mostly here it grows wild, but some will request it. Runners and all are the tell tell sign. It will stay dormant and brown longer much longer than fescue and bluegrass and will green up and start kickin' in Missouri about late May or early June.
