This is my lawn. What kind of grass is this? I thought I had Bermuda since it's rough to walk on. Kind of straw like. I'd just like to know for sure. Thanks.

Not bermuda for sure. I wonder if it could be a fescue.

Ok. It resisted our major heat waves last summer pretty well. It stayed relatively green, but growth slowed way down.

I mow one lawn in he neighborhood and he has fescue and it took a severe and obvious beating last summer. His lawn is basically the same as the one I grew up with in Massachusetts.

    Could it be Bahia?

Any other guesses? Not familiar with Bahia. Anything special about it?

Bahia will keep you cutting in a drought and spreads like wildfire. thats most of what i cut here in north Louisiana.

You don't have enough of a specimen to ID, IMHO. Looks like tall fescue, to me, pull up an entire plant, and knock the soil off. The way that you ID grasses is by features such as auricles, ligules, cross sectional geometry, rhyzomes and stolens. (google what you need to) Also, a short cut to ID tall fescue, is a purplish stain, above the root, as you peel back the layers, by removing the outer layers. Post pictures, of the identifying characteristics, and you will get better answers. Good luck.
