I know the briggs replacement number. Just wondering what other brands would work.

I think Fram PH8071 and Wix 51056 are compatible.

    Anything else?

There is a list that your freindly local parts dealer will have to cross-reference your filter.

Remember - when the engine blows up because the bypass in the filter clogged up - it's your fault.

    "Briggs/Kohler type" 3/4" X 16 threads 8-11 PSI Bypass Gasket 2.734"OD X2 .430"ID 0.226" thick
Length" Wix Purolator Hastings Kohler B&S Baldwin MotorCraft AC Walmart JD
    2.3" 57035 NA LF503 2805001 492932 B7165 NA NA? NA ?
    2.7" 51056 L35310 LF302 1205001 492056 B1410 NA PF2210 NA AM125424
    3.4" 51348 L10241 LF157 5205002 491056 BT223 FL793 PF53 ST3614 AM101207

WIX makes NAPA Gold and CarQuest Blue filters. (identical except for the paint job)
For a NAPA filter, use the last 4 digits of the Wix#
For a CarQuest filter, replace the first 2 digits of the Wix# with 85.
Example. Wix 51348 becomes CarQuest 85348 or NAPA Gold 1348.

Off the topic, but are you having battery charging issues with your 31 briggs exmark? I am and have no idea wtf it could be.

No, Joseph, I'm not. I bought it in 2005 and it has purred right along with no issues.

Mines been having charging problems since last summer. (it was new fall of 05) Have no idea what the problem is but I've done everything I know of to fix it. Dealer doesn't even know either. I think theres a little itty bitty short somewhere that I can't find.
