Dethatch, Pre-M, Aerate, Overseed what is the best order to do these?
if you put down Pre-M don't waste your customers money on overseed, for the obvious reason....
I would dethatch, aerate and then overseed. I don't think the Pre-m would be that effective on turf areas, as you will continously be riding over top of the area you treated with your mowers and running the risk of "breaking" that chemical barrier....
Just my .02
I agree, put down a starter fertilizer with the seed, wait about 8 weeks and put down the preemergent. We use dimension as our preemergent, people that use pre-m had crabgrass breakthrough each of the last 2 years.
I would dethatch and then pre-m in the spring. Then come August into september, aerate and overseed
Is it more important on a thin lawn to overseed now or to put on pre-em? I have some lawns that I just started to maintain and I just overseeded with rebels supremeblend and put down vigoro starter. I was thinking if I get the turf quality up that the turf itself would choke out some broad leaf weeds.
