trying to get a better handle on the numbers game of the business and was wondering what a realistic target profit % is to shoot for.

How much profit do you like to pay when you by something?

Do you want to be a Wal-Mart or a Neiman Marcus?

Also what do you consider profit? Many people work in the company and then don't pay themselves and live off "profit".

I would say after a fair salary to the working owner(s) you should make 10% to 15%.

i asked this same question and the answers veried so much half the people didn't even understand what I was asking. I think we need to come up with our own number that we feel comfortable with. I would be thrilled to make 20%
