I'm trying to get my yard looking good and I've read here a lot and learned quite a bit.

The one thing I haven't figured out is what type of seed to use. My grass is a mixture of grasses but 3/4 of my front yard is a real fine, thick grass. I am going out now to take some pictures and I will update this thread with them in a few minutes.

I bought some Weed b Gone and a sprayer so hopefully that help with weed control. Any help is appreciated.

Turf type tall fescue makes the prettiest lawn in this area.

Irrigated situation? Are you willing to spend extra for maintenance--then bluegrass would work.
Nevertheless Tall fescue is the best choice where summer temps regularly get over 90. In Kentucky --which I think is near--the best varieties form NTEP trials are
Firecracker, Toccoa, Turbo, Bullseye, Firenza, Monet, Talladaga.
Avoid cheap seed, avoid Kentucky 31. (probably from 1931). Disease reisitant is important.
