What time is too early to fire up your mower in a residential neighborhood?
What is a good rule of thumb. 7, 8?

7 is fine. If others can't get out of bed or have a problem it isn't like you are there everyday doing it. Here the ordinance on noise is 7. I live next to a church with a "bell" that is played from a PA system every morning at 7. Again at 8:30 during the week. Funny thing about the church bell is it's loud as all hell!

Contact your local city or county government for a final opinion regarding noise ordnance and timing for conducting work outside.

I would say 8 on Saturdays and 9 if you work Sundays.

Like easylift said, check your local ordinances. Mine is 8am. Cant work later than 9pm I believe (not that you would). Didn't use to be a problem but our new mayor is a bit over the top on that kind of thing.

On the weekends I do 10 because most people don't have to be up for work and I wouldn't want disturb them. During the week many people are up by 8.

I won't sit and wait to go to work. Yesterday it started raining at noon. I'm glad I was out there early otherwise I would have to go to work today but I got it done yesterday. I start early every chance I get and I stay caught up most weeks that way.
