I've heard many different hourly rates for Spray technicians throughout the country. What would you expect to pay an experienced licensed tech say with 20 yrs and extensive knowledge of both cool and warm season grasses, weeds, insects, etc?

In my market, if you were lucky enough to find a tech as you discribed, about 40-42k per year (plus benefits).

That's kind of what I was thinking, in the 35-40 K category and bennies, however I know some obvious large companies not paying anywhere near that and have been wondering if that is out of range just in my market area or if those salaries aren't out there in the rest of the country.

I know that your cost of living there though, is 20+% higher than most other parts of the country, which factors into what a salary would be there. BUt I imagine including bonuses, incentives, and OT, 40k there isn't out of the question.

Grassguy, we got 2 spray techs. neither have the experience as you mentioned, but they are good at what they do and basicly all around good guys. They average 32k per year. they dont work nearly the hours that C--LAwn guys work, we pay year round, offer them health ins (not the best of plans but its something), give then company uniforms, they are responsible to clean them, a few sick days/personal days. They know they could go the Scotts or ChemLawn and be paid more, but they also know they wont have it anywhere near as good as they have it now
