I've gotten a few prices that seem way out of line. Any of you guys know some of your local pricing for 6 inch thick steps? Im looking for 7 foot by 3 foot, 6" thick pieces and have been qouted $1k to $2k, Ive only gotten 3 qoutes and 2 of them were retail, $1k being the quarry price but I dont think these pieces should be over $400.

those prices are close. i pay five bucks a square foot for two inch tread stock. you dimesions are whats killing you. those are very large and heavy peices. eight by two is a stock size and hard to find. your looking for choice stone you will pay a choice price.

those are huge pieces of bluestone. if you're getting them thermaled or rock faced those sound like great prices.

The prices i got were natural cleft so no extra finish. i got a couple more reasonable prices of 4-500 from places hours away. I need to find better prices closer to my area. One place told me $21 sq ft for 6" thick.

I think I'll probably just go with a local schist type of rock for $12 sq ft natural cleft.

what are you building? why not a stone risers and bluestone tread? you can keep the look and run a two inch tread stock and cut the cost way down
