What to use now for sand

    The company that we have been using are no longer carrying concrete sand the local aggregate company Rinker Materials don't have concrete sand just mason sand the told me that a lot of the guys coming in are using #10 rock which is crushed down that it looks almost like sand but there is a little bit of rock in it really small pieces my uncle said they used to call this stuff Chafe or Chaff :confused:

    So is the concrete company using #10 rock instead of sand for the concrete they sell?

    Concrete is not something you mess around with the formula, they have specs to follow. I can't imagine a concrete plant not having concrete sand.

    At my local plants, I just pull under the chute the regular mixer trucks do and the guy in the tower blows the horn when I'm in the right spot. Sand falls in and I'm on my way:walking:

    Looks like you will need to find another supplier. The stone they are referring to is limestone screenings, which is an improper bedding material.
