I was wondering what brand of preemergent herbicide controls the most weeds? I know every lawn is different but I want to know what kills the most weeds in one bag. Hope this makes sense. Thanks

Over the years I have had good luck with Team Pro, Barricade and Pendimethalin. They are good at crabgrass control and will control some other annual grasses and a few annual broadleaf weeds.

The key to success with Pre-emergent is timing. Are you looking for a single app or a split application product.

I prefer Dimension above all the others, I have used them all and feel the Dimension works best for my program.

I like the pre and post control the Dimension offers, i can use it as a single or split app with confidence.

I use Dimension Ultra WSP in splint apps.

What is the price of Dimension WSP? I'm told that it is very expensive compared to other herbicides.

    $160 for 4 WSP packs. Covers 87,000 sf total. Cost $1.82 per 1000 sf. I haven't priced Pre-M so I'm not sure.

That $160.00 for Dimension WSP is a lot cheaper than what I was quoted for a granular Pre-M (19-3-7). It actually worked out to be $219.00 for the same coverage. I'm not real sold on applying much nitrogen in the spring. Maybe a little before summer, then FEED IT FOR WINTER HIBERNATION.

    Kirby,
If your spreading 4 wsp Dimenion per 160,000 sq, isnt that a little light of rate. It,s my understand 1 wsp is equal to .125 ai.

My caculations have you putting down about .13 ai per acre. That according to your previous post should give you a total of .26ai using a split app. That should give you a active of .38 if you were using the EC formulation of Dimension.

Is my caculation right according to your info?

Don't forget that with the 19-3-7 pre-M (not sure what NPK was) you get the fertilizer also, plus it's one application, fast and easy. Also, in NY granular is the way to go with the new 48 Hour neighbor notification law.
