Just wanted to see how everyone keeps customers on their schedules during the cold months. I'm close to Atlanta so plowing is not an option. I want to stay busy but uncertain how to during these months. I know leaf clean-ups will be one but unsure how to schedule and let the customers know what/when to expect me. Also how do you guys bid leaf clean-ups, by the job or by the hour and how much approximately for each. I have about 36 accounts and this is my first year in business. Thank you for any responses!

We continue to come on the customers regular mowing schedule for leaves. We have some customers who we keep on regular schedule and some who get pushed to eow instead of weekly. We do this until Christmas when all the leaves should be down. Some of out clients are seasonal and we will stop all services in a few weeks unless they ask us to come back.

This is my first year with a full time employee so hoping to pick up some extra work. I'd be interested in what others say.

In some threads I've seen .... Gutters, pressure washing, etc.

I also do leaves on scheduled EOW visits through the end of November, and a general cleanup in December "before Christmas", trim crepes, and ornamental grasses in January, spring clean in February. Lime applications as necessary throughout the winter. Basically I tell the customer their lawn will look as kept in the middle of winter as it does through the summer. Have it looking good for houseguests in for the holidays. Most people don't think about their lawn in the winter until they have visitors on the way. So when I pitch my annual agreement I remind them.

I'm in Gainesville and I just tell them when Ill do it. But not many at all will let me, no one seems to be bothered by the leaves in their yards. My weekly's are already EOW.

I do fall clean ups starting after Halloween and plow snow in the winter. Other than that there isn't much else to do unless they ask for some unusual service.

We overseed with rye about 30-40 customers, that keeps me busy 4-5 hours a day then visit the weeklys every other and the biweekly s once a month it's pretty cool in phx to be mowing yards at Christmas,it's also nice to visit the regulars at Christmas timeThumbs Up
