Just curiuos what people had for a job, or still have for a job before you got into landscaping/lawn care. Also, what kind of degrees does anyone have?
In high school, I got a technical degree in heavy equipment operation. In college, I got a degree in criminal justice, and turned down a state trooper job because I didn't want to move again. I have worked as a maintenance mechanic in a fiberglass plant for the past 8 years.

I still work for a computer company. I have the luxury of working the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). With the other four days off. Great for "other jobs".:D

I had a painting business at one time didn't pay enough. I went to school and have a 2-year degree AAS in Law Enforcement. I didn't like what I saw and didn't want to become synical, so I joined the army and jumped out of airplanes for uncle sam and saw worse people there, but I didn't become synical. I went back into business in lawncare, landscape and snow and I am more synical than I thought I would become in either of the other professions. I also delivered alot of pizzas for many years as well as many other things.

I think he meant "cynical", or negative.

This is all I have ever done. BA Degree in PlantScience/Landscape Design. CT cert. Pest Supervisor.

    Education is the key.

I worked bridge construction for 7 years, then started my welding biz and sideline with equipment repairs for a landscape contractor(Can't beat the perks there,ALL sorts of equipment to play with!)

NYRookie, what tech school did you attend for the equipment operating?Guys are always asking about places like that to learn. It's tough in todays constuction world,if your not expierenced with equipment you'll be runnin the ol' self powered backhoe(shovel) for quite some time
