Do you have the knowledge to build a retaining wall? If not I'd just cut the grass.
that wood is not doing anything anyways. pull it out and get rid of it, be alot easier to mow
If it stayed as it is now,,, you'd be fine... the danger is once it starts to ERODE...
I agree with everyone else who says to clean it up...
Emergency...call a lawyer. The left house cut away the earth to level their lot. After freezing and thawing and a bit of erosion, and after a heavy rain that makes that clay soil about like jello, (only less stiff), the slab the right house is sitting on will be undermined and begin to sag downward. The sag of a couple inches or so will crack the floor, crack the plaster, and the off center effects will cause the doors and windows to go off-square...they won't open or close right anymore. The cost to get under the slab and jack it up, remove soil and add cement to remedy the situation is in the many thousands.
Talk to the left side house...its probably their wall and their builder who did this shoddy work...and they are the ones who will be sued.
If you dug a 6 foot deep hidden garden 3 feet from your neighbor's house, and used wood that was sure to rot after 5 years and didn't support it according to published engineering standards. And didn't get a building permit--who would be in trouble?
Obviously, there is a 2X10 board already missing, the posts are no longer straight, but leaning to the left, and some of soil has already migrated to the left. If you have any heavy rains where you are located(LOL)! A lot more soil will move soon. The gas pipes might be broken. The air conditioner will go off-level (if not already). This is a job for a professional retaining wall outfit--considering that there is a chance for major damage.
Yeah, on second look both homes should probably be demolished and re-built.
Are you a Pro-Sue-Happy-Lawyer too???
Most of Georgia and even moreso Detroit,,, should be demolished and rebuilt...
I remember when Detroit was the model city for a Brave New World Order, praised by the United Nations and other socialist ne'er-do-wells... I wonder if it was the sue-everybody attitude that destroyed it???
I might need to have my sarcasm meter checked.
