Nope... Check to make sure it's not something you have running in the background. Bring up windows task manager (alt, ctrl, del., on XP) & check for hidden programs.

Good question. Normally I just reboot, open up that window, click on "user name" & start closing everything that is under "owner".
Some programs I run on startup are obvious such as aim.exe or weather.exe etc... Most things you can figure out what they are by the name or doing a "files & folders" search if it's in a directory you use don't worry about it. Anything else end the process, the worst that can happen is it will cause you to reboot & it's a required file.

Also go into the control panel & add/remove programs. Most pop up junk will be obvious.
Look thru you hard drive & see if there are any odd directories in there. Usually they will have one file in them you know shouldn't be there. Delete it & see what happens you can always restore it until you empty the recycling bin.

Programs like Kazza (file/mp3 sharing) will cause constant pop-ups. Weather-bug has been really annoying every time you close it another window pops up. AOL has a ton of pop ups. Usually pop-ups are a result of the last page you were at. God forbid a porn popup pops up, they seem to never end. Just like the friggin spam e-mails.

I'm not a computer nerd so don't take anything I say too seriously maby some one else can explain it better.
A pop-up killer like harry said, I haven't tried but if they work it would be a life saver....

No popup ads on lawnsite.com, you might have some sort of spyware on your PC that is popping up ads or something... try ad aware, etc.
