I live near Asheville, NC and have owned my business for 15 years. I do mostly landscape maintenance with some landcsape installations. We have cool season grasses here, mostly turf type tall fescue with some bluegrass and fine fescue mixes. I have been aerating lawns since I started back in 1991. I almost always overseed when I areate. I think most lawns in our area can benefit from overseeding to not only thicken and improve the overall appearance of the lawn, but also to repair areas weakened by foot traffic, too much shade, stress from summer heat and lack of rain. I overseed about 90% of the time when aerating. Most other landscapers in this area that I have asked, have similar percentages. I would appreciate input form other landscapers both in my region of the country and those in other areas about their percentage of time they overseed when aerating. Also, those that overseed warm season grasses with annual rye, what percent of your lawns do you overseed?
