When and why would sod staples be used? I am guessing for hills only. Is it ok to lay sod when the top of ground is freezing and thawing (1"). What about water requirements?

Hill's and area's where they may be fast moving water would be a good place for staples, I have layed sod in the winter with no problem, down here in Atl. most grass is Bermuda and its dormant, Fescue would need to be watered as does the Bermuda to keep the roots from drying out, but not as much as the fescue, hope this helps.
