when are blade belts bad

    ihave a toro 44 proline and was wondering when the belts are bad or worn out. does is start skipping while your cutting

    Cracks, missing pieces, and a glossy belt tells you they are getting bad. A glossy belt can be sprayed with belt dressing to get by till you get a new one and in some cases run a long time without needing to be replaced. We run are belts all season and watch for wear when we find some we get a replacment and run till it breaks or slips.

    Same as when belts on your truck need replaceing, they get dried out , start cracking and splitting... grab a belt when machine is off....... and twist it in your fingers, if you see any cracks or signs of cracking or splitting, then replace it , Depending on hours, you may just need to replace them yearly, I have some belts like trans drive belts that get replaced a few times a year, and even the blade belts sometimes , but the wheel belts seem to last longer...
