Start spring Clean-up's and de-thatching? I have been in the lawncare bus. for several years and always see people out power raking in Jan and Feb. Personaly I like to start in March, so I have about 2 full months of clean-up work before the weekly mowing begins. Do you think that power raking this time of year can hurt the grass?

Can't see how it's gonna do any good. Power raking, dethatching, aerating, etc., should only be done IMO when the turf is actively growing and can repair itself with the help of warm temps, sunlight, and rainfall.

We do power raking in the fall as well. We run the JRCO rake over the lawn in the spring to loosen the embedded leaves and sticks, but that doesn't do the damage that a dedicated power rake will do.
