Where to Start On This Echo

    In case you can't tell this is an echo blower PB620 I think. The unit was running just fine, started easy and nice idle. Where would you start?

    Ed...Id find a good looking blown up Echo blower in the bone pile..and RnR the engine..

    Id throw it in the garabage. Fixing it isn't worth your time.

    Does it run currently? You said something like it 'was' running. Looks like it needs shrouds and a good cleaning. I'm not a small engines expert, but does it need the crankcase gaskets, too, judging by all that oil and crud built up?

    Leaking jug gasket would be my first thought.

    I would start by cleaning it all up real good, it happens, sometimes equipment runs so good for so long that all sorts of crud can build up in this time, unfortunately at this point the only solution is to give it a really good, thorough cleaning. That's what I would do because it will make troubleshooting a whole lot easier, and reduce the risk of a fire should you ever get it running again, which...

    I might recommend compressed air, and perhaps carb or brake cleaner.
    Rags, maybe some kerosene, but it has to be really nice, clean and dry.

    This is all cosmetic I am sure that there is nothing wrong inside the engine. But I have a box of parts I stripped from dealer bone pile if it comes to that.


    I anticipate not taking much time to get this back in service. I replaced the two gaskets on the carb inlet side and it is running. Kinda one of these challenges to keep my brain from shutting down.

    I am sending it back into service, the crank seals are okay I think since I see no oil behind the recoil side and it usually that one blows. I believe it could be the head gasket or the gasket between the two halfs of the engine but the leak is small.

    Truthfully it's probably been leaking fuel.
    What you see is the result of evaporation, that leaves the oil behind.
    To which the dirt clings.

    One day the leak got worse or the line broke completely.

    But you still need to clean it so you can SEE.
